Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Samantha. Welcome to my passion project: Lockheart Arden Publishing. Here, I will be writing essays about topics that are of importance to me and topics that I have had direct life experience with. My goal is to be someone who lifts others up and uses the internet to be a source of creativity and knowledge. I do not seek to teach people how to think, but rather, inspire them to think for themselves. Life can be challenging at times, but even more importantly, as I enter adulthood, I want to show everyone my perspective on life through how I have gotten through difficult events in my past and work on becoming the best possible version of myself. Life has so many ups and downs—but you can definitely get through all of them. I speak from experience. This blog is only the beginning of my journey through life. I am always a work in progress, which means I am always learning. The more that I learn, the more I recognize that I know nothing at all. I am simply trying to find beauty and purpose in a broken world. I love creatively writing, engaging with my passions, and sharing my soul with the world. ☽

Why I’m Giving My Soul a Rest from Social Media for 365 Days

In this blog post, I explain why I want to give myself a break from social media for a long time. I offer both psychological and spiritual reasonings for completely stopping my current social media use—emphasizing how it has become both a source of distraction and an idol in my life. Saint Philip Neri once said, “Do not grieve over the temptations you suffer. When the Lord intends to bestow a particular virtue on us, He often permits us first to be tempted by the opposite vice. Therefore, look upon every temptation as an invitation to grow in a particular virtue and a promise by God that you will be successful, if only you stand fast.”
