Why Quitting Social Media Did Not Work for Me

Here, I share a follow-up to my last blog post.

In December of 2023, I made the decision to quit social media for an entire year in an attempt to better my mental health.

Unfortunately, I did not succeed in meeting this goal. My plans to quit social media only lasted maybe two weeks.

I am sharing this to be transparent about what direction the course of my life has taken; and as it turns out, I thrive when I am sharing my life and thoughts about God with the world. In a lot of ways, this blog (and all of my other social media accounts) are like little online diaries for me. It is my prayer that the things I share online glorify Christ.
A huge part of my vocation is loving others well, and I love others best through my writing. Expressing myself in words is an essential part of my identity: it is something that God has blessed me with beautifully.

I am also someone who tends to go to extremes. Deciding to entirely quit social media for a year after being on it constantly… was not a sustainable change. Going forward, I plan on taking much shorter, more regular breaks from social media to keep my mental health in check. But as I have said, sharing my life online is really important to me, and I hope to continue doing it until I am in my nineties. 🥰

"She has been feeling it for awhile now—that sense of awakening. There is a gentle rage simmering inside her, and it is getting stronger by the day. She will hold it close to her—she will nurture it and let it grow. She won't let anyone take it away from her. It is her rocket fuel and finally, she is going places. She can feel it down to her very core—this is her time. She will not only climb mountains—she will move them too." –Lang Leav ♥︎ Copyright © Samantha Arden Lockheart // Copyright © Samantha Ann Fuchsgruber [Founder of Lockheart Arden Publishing; Est.
